Gold Embroidered Sequinned and Beaded Cloche Hat: C1920s France

Another striking and authentic cloche hat dating from the 1920s era.

Hand embellished and embroidered with swirl motifs and studded with iridescent sequins and diamanté.

The cloche fits snuggly over the head which lent its alternative name  ‘scull cap’. These hats were the height of fashion during the 20s and would have been worn in the evenings with a dropped waisted dress and a long string of beads or pearls. A far cry from the fitted corsets and bodices of the Victorian and Edwardian eras.

The cloche is sin excellent condition for an item of this antiquity. It has some overall discolouration and darkening of the sequins. nothing that detracts from the overall loveliness of this lovely hat. It is fully lined with a soft brown silk and satin.
