Antique Rare Collectable Primitive Folk Art Wooden Doll: C1800 America
Item Details.
An interesting rare, early hand made Folk Art wooden doll with jointed carved wooden legs and arm.
Dating from the early 19th, around 1800 possibly an early Grodnertal or precursor to the popular ‘peg doll’.
This doll has a delightful expressive face and has obviously been very well loved over the years.
Her head, limbs and body have all been hand carved from what looks like red pine. There is a remnant of the original paint and a hole on the top of her head suggest she originally may have had hair.
Both her arms and legs are jointed which allows some movement. There is the suggestion of fingers on her hand and toes on her feet.
Measurements:
33.5cm tall
8cm wide across shoulders
7cm deep - head
Condition.
