Liberty, London Arts & Crafts Hand Embroidered Panel: C18th, Liberty, Regent Street, London, England

Dating from the Arts and Crafts era, C19th century, this rare hand embroidered panel with an all over florals and foliage design strongly reminiscent of the patterns designed by William Morris.

Made for Liberty, London this panel would have originally been intended as a curtain panel. The linen ground was block printed with the pattern which would have then been embroidered by a professional workshop.

Entirely hand worked in pale yellows, taupes, and milky coffee coloured mercerised cottons onto an off-white fine linen ground and backed in a brushed cotton, all original and dating from the same period.

The condition is good for a domestic textile from this era, there is all over foxing and watermarks which it would be possible to improve upon or remove with specialist cleaning.

203cm long + 12cm hem at the top 3.5cm hem along bottom edge.

91cm wide with 1.5cm hems down either side.
