C18th Chinoiserie Silk and Lame Panel with Architectural and Garden Elements: Lyon
A large silk brocade panel with metal thread dating form the 18th century in tones of pale olive gold and mauves.
During the 1700’s rococo period, silks mixed architectural and garden elements in surprising, almost dream-like-combinations.
The panel has oriental style pavilions, with large sweeping stylised foliage and foliate motifs and enormous exotic birds perch precariously on branches.
Probably from Lyon, France the panel is woven in soft greens and brocaded with lilac metal threads.
