1920’s Chinoiserie Oriental Style Silk Brocade Coat
From the 1920’s, a coat handmade from a magenta pink brocade shot through with old gold gilt thread.
this unique brocade is woven in a Chinoiserie or Japanoise style which was de rigueur at this time.
The coat is in a loose easy-to-wear, unstructured, kaftan style with panels of gathering on either side above the hips.
The coat is unlined and therefore light and perfect for spring or summer wear.
It hangs open down the centre front and the edges, hem and sleeves are finished with black silk velvet which has been over stitched with gold thread.
It is in excellent antique condition.
