1920s Japanese hand painted mother of pearl pendant
From Japan and made during the Art Deco period, when all things oriental were ‘de rigour’ a hand painted and lacquered mother of pearl pendant necklace.
Painted in golds with fine touches of red and black onto a shield shaped piece of nacre shell.
One side depicts a goddess (of good fortune?) while the other side has an exotic bird of paradise standing amongst stylised flowers and foliage.
The pendant comes with a gilt link chain.
It is in good overall condition with some wear to the paint, nothing detrimental to the piece.
Measurements: 6cm H X 5cm W. Chain 34cm long
