Anglo-Indian Moghul Miniature Painting: Mumtaz Mahal c.1840
Anglo-Indian miniature painting in gouache on ivory of Mumtaz Mahal c.1593-1631 beloved wife of Mughal Emperor Shah Johan, for whom the Taj Mahal at Agra was commissioned as her tomb.
This miniature was probably produced by the Anglo-Indian or”Company” school at Delhi.
The portrait is set into a gilt pinch beck pendant frame, and is in excellent antique condition.
