Dating from the mid to late 19th century this historic gold gilt embroidered chasuble cape or collar.
Made from a gold lamé with exquisite gold thread stumpwork embroidery. Designed to be worn around the back of a plain Chasuble to bring interest when the weather has his back to the congregation.
Ecclestastical pieces like these were made by the most skilled needlewoman who’s expertise was chosen to make embroideries such as this for the church.

Condition.
The textile is in good condition considering its great antiquity. It has an overall patina of age and some fading to cotton lining, some marks and creasing to velvet. Small losses to gilt thread embroidery.
