Antique Folk Art Patchwork Quilt Panel: C19th America
An extraordinary panel of Folk Art patchwork, probably American and dating from the 19th century. Possibly made as a dolls quilt and with a silk velvet rosette in the centre.
Hand-made using hundreds of tiny folded pieces of textiles, all dating from the early to mid 19th century and including ginghams, silks, tickings, velvets and printed cottons amongst many others. The variety of fabrics used makes this an interesting study piece for anyone interested in textiles from this period.
This would make a lovely and interesting cushion face, or cover for a footstool.
Measurements: 53 x 35 cm
Condition: In good very good condition for a domestic textile item from this era. Some wear to surface of some of the fabrics, particularly the silks, some fraying and loose threads. Nothing detrimental to this lovely piece as a whole
