Antique Original Fortuny Gold Printed Silk Velvet : C19th Venice, Italy
An original gold printed silk velvet fragment panel by Mario Fortuny dating from the 19th century.
Mario Fortuny lived and worked in Venice in early 20th centuries. He invented a method of printing gold onto silks and velvets that he became famous for. His dresses were desired and worn by the highest members of society and are in the worlds leading museum collections today.
This fragment may have been made for a coat, a cloak, a dress, or similar. It’s is hand printed onto a dark grey sky coloured silk velvet and is a wonderful quality.
