Antique Silk Velvet Cover with Silver Gilt Embroidery and Bullion Lace trim C17th
Dating from the 17th century a magenta pink silk velvet cover with silver gilt embroidery, European, probably English. With a design of decorative appliqués and embroidered foliage leaves (ivy?)
The cover has extraordinarily fine silver wrapped thread embroidery which has been couched with extremely delicate and decorative stitching over a cream colour silk. A few of the original sequin and pearl embellishments still remain in place.
In very good condition for a textile of this antiquity, with some loose threads, rubs and areas of wear.
