Art Deco Silk Brocade Gold Lame Shawl: 1920s France
From France and dating from the 1920s, Art Deco period comes this gold lamé brocade shawl.
Finely woven in cream silk chiffon with gold in a purely deco pattern of stylised roses, this shawl is a good example of a textile design from this exciting era.
Wonderful to wear, the lame hugs the body and has an almost liquid appearance. The shawl is finished with a narrow old gold and silk braided edging, there is aa almost invisible seam running down the centre.
A perfect shawl for a wedding or special occasion, for film/television or room decor.
These pieces have all the idiosyncrasies of an aged and loved piece of cloth so small marks, stains and signs of wear are to be expected and are an inherent part of their charm. The shawl has an overall patina of age with done darker areas to the lame.
