Dancers Decorative Headdress Hat Peacock : C20th Burma
Dating from the first quarter of the 20th century and from Burma this is a sea dancers hat, possibly from the Myanmar theatre.
Made in papier-mâché which has been covered in a pale yellow silky material which has been decoratively embroidered with old gold coloured sequins and beads.
The size suggests this is a child’s rather than and adults hat. It is made in a helmet style which fits over the head, and has a three dimensional peacock finial.
Condition: In good condition for an item of clothing from this era. some missing sequins, loose threads and an overall patina of age.
