Early Framed Embroidery Fragment with Butterfly: C17th English
Another early framed embroidery fragment from a collection, please see our other listings for more examples.
From England and dating around the first half of the 1600’s.
Worked in silks onto a linen ground, a fragment from a tent stitch border, this one of a butterfly in flight with a lovely face. To the right hand side is a stylised blue flower.
In good antique condition commensurate with their age, this fragment has a slight gap along bottom of mount, which could easily be remedied by a narrow inner mount slip.
Outer frame: 16.5cm X 13cm
Inner frame: 7cm X 3.5cm
