Indian Coromandel block print finished with Kalamkari work for export to the Persian market early 19th century.
Similar copy prints were produced later in the 19th century in Isfahan, Iran due to Persian import restrictions possibly as a result of the East India Company ceasing trading in 1857.
The delicate block print is on a very fine cotton. It is quilted and has been backed with a dollar print in sepia on a buttermilk cotton the panel is finished with a border of indigo.
