Floss silk embroidered tunic dress: Taiwan, 1920s
Understated chic in this wonderful floss silk embroidered tunic dress from the 1920s era.
It is the epitome of wearable art and depicts Taiwanese buildings and temples with what looks like water in the foreground with luscious water lilies.
Worked in floss silks on a black silk sating ground, the dress has been simply fashioned into a simple unstructured tunic dress, with a single button fastening at the back of the neck.
In good wearable condition with some fading at the top of the dress front. The dress would also be great as room or interior decor, or could be repurposed into pillows, or stretched and mounted as wall hangings/art.
Measurements taken with garment laying flat.
60cm across front
nape neck to hem: 131cm
