Japanese Silk Satin Embroidered Stumpwork Dragon Wall Hanging: C19th China
An exceptional silk satin embroidered wall hanging from 19th century Japan.
With a central motif of a stumpwork dragon chasing a Pearl traditionally believed to be a potent symbol of strength, good fortune and transformation.
The textile is in good antique condition with some rubs and tears throughout the bottom section. The embroidery itself is in excellent condition.
All of our textiles and costume are antique and as such have idiosyncrasies and flaws, small historic marks and holes as you would expect in textiles of antiquity. We try to give an accurate description of anything such as historic repairs and mends when possible.
