Ottoman Gold Bullion Stumpwork Embroidered Panel with Peacocks: C19th Turkey
A 19th century Ottoman gold bullion embroidered panel with stumpwork birds, a peacock and decorative motifs.
Made in the traditional art of this Ottoman embroidery, with twisted coils of gold thread and stitched over padding to form plump birds and floral motifs.The central motif is of a peacock with its tail fully open.
The panel is worked onto a lovely muted magenta pink silk satin ground which has some fading and areas of loss to the surface around the edges of the piece. The embroidery has been finished with a gold bullion fringed edging.
The perfect size to make into a cushion, alternatively it could be stretched and mounted. Please ask us for a quote and details for this service.
