Ottoman Silk Embroidered Entari Traditional Robe: C19th Turkey
A beautiful Ottoman era woman’s robe (entari) or coat dating from the mid 19th century.
These robes were part of a woman’s traditional costume and would ah e been worn over a fine gauze smock or blouse over which a waistcoat or fitted jacket was worn these would have been worn over wide leg harem pants.
This robe has been made with a very soft sage green silk satin and has been embellished with multiple rows of purple violet and pink embroidery running down its length. The front opening, hem and sleeves are all edged with a loose open weave lace.
The robe is in good antique condition with some wear to the silk around the outer edges and collar area along with some slight discolouration, there are also a few light marks, all commensurate with the age of this costume.
