Traditional ceremonial Indonesian headdress with diamanté: Sumatra, Indonesia C20th
Handmade in the first half 20th century a traditional ceremonial headdress from Indonesia, this one has what I can only describe as a Russian look.
Traditionally made to be worn for weddings, dance and ceremonies, these headdresses are detailed and eye-catching.
Made from cut work gilt metals with tiny strands of metal forming a cobweb of detail and then studied with hundreds of Aurora bolealis diamanté’s.
The headdress would work well for a wedding or as room decor as it’s is such a decorative piece.
It is in good antique condition with some missing diamanté stones which could easily be replaced.
The headdress fastens at the back with an adjustable metal headband.
