Silk Embroidered Abochani Wedding Shawl: Sind C20th
A traditional wedding shawl or abochani dating from the first half of the 20th century.
These shawls were a traditional part of a brides trousseau and were embroidered in the manner of a phulkari.
Embroidered in floss silks onto a light weight cream cotton ground in traditional jewel colours of Ruby pink red and emerald green.
This panel has a particularly lovely graphic design which would work well as a wall of door hanging.
There is an overall patina of age to the textile and it has some foxing marks and water marks, which a specialist cleaner may be able to reduce or remove.
