Traditional Folk Costume Eastern European Embroidered Blouse and Apron: C1910 Croatia
A wonderful heavily embroidered traditional folk costume from Eastern Europe, Petrinja, Banija, Croatia and dating from around 1900/1910. Comprising of a heavily silk embroidered linen blouse and apron.
The smocked full linen blouse have heavily embroidered sleeves and would have been worn under a velvet waistcoat/bodice.
The apron is also heavily embroidered and would have been worn over a heavy skirt. These colourful folk costumes were traditionally worn by woman for celebrations and at festivals.
They are both in good antique condition with some colour run around the embroidery ,but nothing that’s detrimental to the piece as a whole.
