Two Chinese Embroidered Silk Panels: C19th China for European market
Two fine embroidered panels, possibly from a screen, hand embroidered in a soft pale colour palette, produced in China during the late 19th century for the European market.
With an abundance of birds and floral motifs these have been skilfully worked to the highest standard and are excellent examples of this type of embroidery.
The panels are fragile and have been stabilised on the reverse with a fine cotton backing support. There is splitting to the silk ground and some darker ares(water marks?) to the edges of the silk. These are for restoring, study or re-use, and would benefit greatly from being stretched and mounted, a service which we can offer from our dedicated studio. Please contact us for details.
The textiles we offer are all antique and may have marks, and flaws which are an inherent part of their history.
Panel 1: 50cm X 120cm
