Antique Early Silk and Metal Thread Embroidered Appliqué Panel: C17th Britain
A rare find! An appliqued silver metal and silk thread embroidery dating from the 17th century which had been reapplied to a panel of cream silk at a later date.

The embroidery is very fine and includes real silver and gold thread with floss silk embroidery.
With peacocks, birds, florals including Tudor roses, carnations, tulips, daffodils, urns of flowers and arabesques Probably originally intended as a pillow or cushion front.
Measurements:
Outer edge: 74 x 74cm
Embroidery: 67 x 67cm
Condition: Some surface wear to the embroidery as to be expected in a textile of this antiquity. Some marks to cream silk, which as mentioned has been added at a later date.
