Antique Embroidered Traditional Folk Costume Bag Red & Black: C20th Macedonia

Item Details.
This gorgeous traditional folk art embroidered bag from Macedonia.

Made from a cream linen twill ground the bag has been decorated in a traditional manner with lines of red dyed cording which has been applied in various ways to create decorative borders.

Small areas have been highlighted with yellow and green embroidery. The bag is finished along the top edge with a pretty hand made green lace edging.

The bag has a twisted cord handle and is finished along the bottom with three silk tassles.

Era and Usage.
Made in the early 1900s this bag is in good antique condition with an overall patina of age as you would expect in an item of this antiquity.
