A stunning handmade patchwork Ralli quilt, Sindh, Pakistan. Mid 20thC, natural dyes, fully covered with kantha stitch. Double sided from India.
Handmade from cotton in pleasing earth tones it has a lovely traditional patchwork design.
It has been beautifully made from cotton, using old scraps of fabric, traditional recycling! The quilt has been finished with lines of stitching Kantha stitching) which serve to hold all the layers together, this stitching is traditional to Kantha quilts.
This would look great thrown over a sofa, a bed or could be hung at a window or used as a door curtain.
The backing has a fine stripe with patches of resist dyed cotton down one side.
