Antique Spitalfields Silk Brocade Stays Corset Bodice: C18th London, England

Dating from the first half of the 18th century these Spitalfields brocaded silk stays or corset with sleeves.

Lacing both at the front and the back a stomacher would have been worn down the centre front (missing).

Lined throughout in hand loomed linen and narrow boned for structure and to create the desired silhouette of the day.

This is a collectors item, museum piece it is not for wearing and needs to be carful lay looked after and stored.

Condition:

The stays or corset are in remarkable condition considering their age. 

The silk on the top of the sleeves have splits and there are some losses and rubs underarms and around outer edges.
