A unique museum quality suzani dating from the first quarter of the 20th century Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
This suzani is a sun moon type (ay paliak).
The surface of this hanging is entirely covered in hand embroidered silk using a traditional stitch unique to suzanis.
These wonderful collectable textiles from Central Asia were traditionally made as dowry hangings and formed part of a brides trousseau. They were traditionally used as decorative tent (yurt) hangings and covers.
Hand worked onto a hand loomed cotton ground in silks, the beautiful colouring of this textile would suit most interior styles.
