Another gorgeous cutwork and embroidered antique linen pelmet or border from France, C1910/20.

Hand made and hand embroidered this has been made to use as a pelmet to hang above a window or door, or to hang along a piece of furniture or shelf. It would also look lovely stitched to a curtain as a decorative border.

Depicting a stylised Art Deco design it has beautifully cut leaves and flowers and a decorative chevron edge. The hand embroidery is beautifully executed and has a variety of stitches including pekin knots.

A useful antique textile that would work well in most interior settings.

227cm long x 29cm high.

Condition: In excellent antique condition with an overall patina of age as you would expect in a domestic textile from this era. Some slight rust marks along the top edge where it was once tacked to a shelf.
