Edwardian tussar Silk Embroidered Skirt with Train: C1900 English

Oh my goodness……this is quite simply breathtaking in its gorgesnous!

The minute our model Amie put it one she walked differently and couldn’t stop herself from swishing the skirt around.

Dating from the early Edwardian period, circa 1900, we think this would probably have been made for a wedding and would have once had a matching bodice.

Hand made in a natural straw colour tussar silk and hand embroidered with floral motifs using a fine white cotton thread which contrasts beautifully with the colour of the silk.

With a froth of tiered lacey layers which flow out of kick pleats all around the skirts hem and which also decorate the graduated train at the back, it moves beautifully.

Originally intended to be worn with a corset the waist is pretty tiny and so we couldn’t fasten it, but no matter, it looked fabulous.

Waist: 21.5 inches
Length Front: 29.5 inches

Length Back: 49 inches

Condition.
The condition is good for a garment from this era. There are a few marks but nothing that’s detrimental to the overall loveliness of this gorgeous skirt.
