An absolutely stunning museum worthy silk embroidery of a dragon chasing a pearl dating from the early 1900s, China. The dragon represents prosperity and rain, while the flaming pearl signifies spiritual energy, wisdom, and knowledge.
This is THE most extraordinary 3 dimensional embroidery with lots of stumpwork and a wide variety of embroidery stitches.
Obviously worked by an extremly skilled hand we think this may have been made for a temple or place of worship.
