Fine Arts & Crafts Era Liturgical Silk Embroidered Madonna: C19th France

Dating from the late 1800s - 1900 this Arts & Crafts era fine liturgical embroidery. Hand worked in subtlety pale coloured silks onto a pale cream silk satin ground with exquisite gold thread detailing (see photographs).
This is a very good example of museum quality embroidery from this era. We think it may possibly have come from a French convent.
The depiction is of a saint or more probably madonna with beautiful and intricate detailing in her jewelry headdress, hands, gown and halo.
The embroidery has been professionally stretched and mounted over a lined and interlined board and is ready to be framed.

27.5 x 40cm
Condition: In very good condition for a silk embroidery from this era, some minor rubs to the embroidery and an overall patina of age as to be expected in an embroidery from this era.
