Dating from 18th century France a pair of stunning Aubusson trompe l’oeil tapestry hangings.
Originally designed to hang on either side of a tall door these also would look fabulous framing a tall window or as wall hangings.
The detail in these is superb with swags of flowers and amazing shading in the drapery. There’s also tassels and fringing with interwoven with gold thread highlights, which would have caught the light of candles in the room.
Hand woven in naturally dyed wools these are the work of an incredibly skilled weaver.

310cm long x 47cm wide
Condition:
Very good antique condition, some marks where old glue has come through to front from back. A specialist would be able to remove this.
