Collection Four Chinese Peking Opera Costume Dolls : C19th China

Item Details.
I have been fascinated by these dolls ever since I was a child. This is a collection of four Chinese Opera dolls dating from the late 19th early 20th century.

Handmade in papier maché which is then painted, they are jointed to give movement.

Their costumes are miniature representations of the costumes worn by the performers at the theatre and Peking Opera, hence their name.

Hand embroidered, their costumes are fully lined, the dolls even have underwear!

Two dolls have red robes with golden dragons embroidered on, the others have delightful turquoise and blue embroidered robes. The heads are delicately painted with an ornate hair style/headdresses.

There are two female figures, One older male figure and a younger male figure.

Era and Usage.
Made in the 19th century, they were sold as momentous from the Peking Opera, they have the most wonderful silk costumes.
The delicately painted head has wonderful hairstyles/headdresses and decorations.

Condition: Very Good
The dolls are in very good condition with only minor cracks/chips and loose threads.
