Antique Art Deco Raffia Embroidered Bag: C1920 British

Item Details.
Dating from the 1920s Art Deco era, this gorgeous handmade Bloomsbury style bag with hand worked rafia embroidery.

Hand embroidered with a distinctive Arts & Crafts Glasgow School Rose motif, the bag has been worked in a beautifully rich colour palette. Lined in a deep magenta cotton sateen.

This reminds me very much of the Bloomsbury group and wouldn’t look out of place in one of their paintings or room displays at Charleston.

Condition.
The bag is in good, usable condition. It has an overall patina of age as you would expect in an antique bag from this. there is wear to some of the raffia, with some loose threads.
