Antique Edwardian Art Nouveau Embroidered and Appliquéd Florals Silk Cape: C1910 France
An exquisite Edwardian silk cape dating from around 1900-1910.
Designed as a lightweight summer cape to be worn over an evening gown, the work in this is extraordinary.
Entirely handmade we think this came from one of the high end costumiers in Paris at this time such as Maison Worth or Callot Soeurs
The piece has an oriental Japanese influence which was popular at this time. it has appliqués and embroidered flowers in soft mauves and taupes with net lace reverse appliqued panels and tucks running around the shoulders to give shape.
Unfortunately someone has cut both the centre front edges which we have bound in ribbon.
A beautiful unique standout piece which woukd be perfect for a wedding.
