Antique Zardozi Embroidered Silk Velvet Slippers or Mules C19th India

Item Details.
A pair of women’s antique Indian embroidered slippers which are from Bengal in the 1800’s.
I bought them in Delhi in the 1980’s and they have been in my collection since.

The uppers on this pair are fashioned in silk velvets in jewel colours of magenta and emerald green. They are encrusted with silver gilt embroidery, some of which is raised and padded, depicting stylised floral motifs.

Edged in a narrow purple ribbon, these slippers are so lovely!

Measurements.
10 inch (25 cm) toe to heel.
4 inch (10 cm) across widest point on the toe.

Condition: Very Good
In good condition for an item of this era. The lacquered soles show signs of wear around the edges and the soles have some scuff marks. There is some wear to the velvet on the toes and sides of the shoes.
