Black and Gold lamé opera coat: C1920 French
An exquisite museum quality black silk satin and gold lamé brocade opera coat/cape dating from the 1920s Art Deco era.
The lamé has a stylised floral pattern with different shades of gold with touches of copper which sings against the black satin.
A fabulous piece which would be a great asset for a very special occasion, it is subtle, stylish and chic in equal measure.
Designed and hand made in an unstructured cocoon shape made famous by Paul Poiret the Parisian couturier.
In very good antique condition, with some thinning to areas of the satin, we would recommend a silk lining is added to support the fabric and give support and strength to the lamé. This is a service we can offer from our studios, please ask us for a quote.
