A traditional Ottoman era silk velvet jacket ‘karakou’ with gold embroidery dating from the turn of the 19th century, Algeria
Made in traditional style with embroidered patterns and motifs passed down through the generations.
The front of the jacket has elaborate decorative handmade tassels finished with sequins, and fastens down the centre front by means of hidden hooks and eyes. It has a row of handwoven false buttons.
The sleeves are open to the elbow and fasten with a row of pearls buttons.
