A wonderful heavily embroidered traditional folk costume apron from Eastern Europe, Petrinja (village) Bainija (region) Croatia and dating from around 1900/1910.
The apron is hand embroidered with huge red silk flowers and would have been worn over a heavy skirt. It has pretty pink and white hand embroidered cutwork lace edging. These colourful folk costumes were traditionally worn by woman for celebrations and at festivals.
It is in remarkably good antique condition commensurate with age.
