Antique Bespoke Needlepoint Tapestry Embroidered Floral Lampshade: C19th Britain
More unique bespoke lampshades from our studio collection.
We have four of these shades made using what was once the border of a round table cover, the centre of which had long since perished.
Dating from the 19th century and made in Britain the needlepoint embroidery is exquisite. Depicting spring flowers, tulips, roses & morning glories amongst others the flowers have been worked in pretty pastels which contrasts beautifully against the old gold gilt of the background.
Entirely hand stitched in fine wools with the lighter colours in silk which catches the light and highlights the petals.
When lit the lampshades give a deep moody subtle light, with the flowers lighting up like stain glass windows, so they look lovely lit or unlit.
Every attention to detail has been taken with the making of these special lamp shades. They are entirely stitched by hand by a professional maker. She has painted the wire frames individually and every step of the designing and making has been a delightful two way process.
These shades are part of a small collection, and each one is a one off. They should be appreciated as a work of art rather than just a lampshade.
The price quoted is for ONE lampshade.
