Antique Crewelwork Embroidered Jacobean Revival Tree of Life Cushion Pillow: C1900 Britain

Designed and hand embroidered in England this extraordinary Jacobean revival crewelwork cushion dating from the early 1900s Arts and Crafts era.

Handworked in softly coloured wools onto a fine linen ground and depicting a tree of life, influenced by 17th century embroidery which enjoyed a resurgence at this time.

There are some wonderful details including some knobbly nuts/acorns and a wide variety if embroidery stitches and techniques carried out by a very skilled hand.

The handmade cushion has been backed in a lovely antique french linen.

59cm L x 48cm W

Condition.
In excellent useable condition with no damage that we have found. Some overall fading to the colours and an overall patina of age as you would expect in a textile from this era. Nothing detrimental to the piece as a whole.
