An amazing find this fabulous printed linen features a highly stylized, mythical creatures within a decorative medallions, which is part of a larger Jacobean-style botanical pattern.
The design is characterized by Jacobean revival elements, often seen in high-end embroidery and traditional textiles. This specific style frequently incorporates fanciful fauna & mythical beasts, like the sea-serpent shown, alongside realistic animals and birds stylised flora with intricate, curvilinear vines and floral "tree of life" motifs typical of 16th and 17th-century aesthetics.
In a deep reddish-pink ground with accents of sage green, gold and deep green blue.
We think this dates from the first quarter of the 20th century, its a narrow width which suggests its from this era. Perfect for an upholstery project, curtains or loose covers.
