From England this extraordinary hand embroidered needlepoint tapestry dating from the 18th century but in the style of an earlier 17th century Jacobean embroidery.
Depicting a wonderful gentle pastoral scene with lots of detail and interest.
In the background are trees with decorative foliage. The foreground has figures with some hunting, there’s are grazing deer, rabbits, a man with his horse and a courting couple with their dogs in fabulous costume.
The detail is extraordinary, we’ve counted over twelve animals including insects and a bird.
The foreground has hillocks alive with rabbits and butterflies and which are a recognisable feature of 17th century embroideries.
