Antique Silk Embroidered Heraldic Pelmet or Hanging: C1800 Europe
Dating from the early 19th century, C1800, this delightful silk embroidered linen pelmet or cover.
Scandinavian in feel but we believe it is probably European, the name on a tiny label on the back reads “W. Dugdale”.
Made from a fine hand loomed light cream colour linen, it is embroidered with simple but effective decoration which includes, drawn thread work, appliqué and with a wonderful embroidered heraldic crest in the central panel.
The panel has decorative handmade silk braiding each is finished with a flat silk tassel which intersperse the bottom zigzag edge.

68 x 49cm
Condition: In excellent antique condition with a couple of small and sympathetic historic mends. A few small light marks which could be improved upon with careful laundering.
