From Turkey, a tiny pair of fine gold gilt embroidered blue leather children’s slippers dating from the 19th century Ottoman era and still with the silver printed stamp of the shop which reads “
Handmade in blue leather which has been embroidered with traditional stumpwork metal thread work with coils of silver and gold metal thread twisted and wrapped around a linen thread which is then applied as here, to created decorative floral motifs.
Finished with wonderful pale blue floss silk pompoms, these slippers were probably made for a wedding or similar ceremony.
Highly collectible and decorative they would be a great addition to a collection or for costume study purposes.

Condition.
They are in hardly worn condition, some minor rubs to soles, an over all patina of age as you would expect in an item of this antiquity.
