Decorative Brass Repoussé Planter: C19th India
Another highly decorative brass planter from our studio collection. Dating from the late 19th century and made in India, probably for export.
This planter is of a medium size with an elegant and pleasing shape. The punched repouse decorative work has an overall repeating pattern with foliate motifs while the central band has depictions of: 2 lions attacking an elephant and a deer, exotic birds, a sacred cow with painted decorations and a horse with decorative trappings.
The planter would suit most interior settings and would be a nice addition to a brassware collection, or as a stand alone piece.
It is in good antique condition with signs of wear as you would expect in an item of domestic ware from this era.
