Produced in 1925 the lithographs by H. Ernst, Paris, document some of the collection by Oberkampf and include plates 17, 20, 25, 28, 32 & 35 still in their original folder with chintz binding.
Oberkampf Manufactory, Jouey-en Jose’s, France, (active 1760- 1843), was the first printed textile factory in France, founded by Christophe-Philippe Oberkampf (1738 -1815).
This collection shows Indian and other exotic textile designs from the 1700s and include delicate floral patterns, figurative designs and some with mythical figures.
A useful source for textile study and inpriration, these lithograph prints are a fascinating record of the designs coming from India at this time.
The collection is presented in its original folder with a lovely chintz binding. We are selling the collection as a whole as we feel it should be kept together as its a valuable textile design document from one of the most important manufacturers of early printed textiles.
