A hand painted on paper, a miniature portrait of Louis XV1, the last king of France 1754-1793.
Famous for be a reluctant monarch who spent much of his time at the palace of Versailles, being married to Marie Antoinette, and their untimely ends at the hands of the French revolutionaries.
The portrait is a fine pen and ink drawing with extraordinary detail which has then been hand painted, it has then been mounted in a double frame, the inner oval frame is etched brass and is inset into a dark brown silk velvet. The outer frame is gold gilt painted wood.
