Ottoman Gilt Embroidered Terracotta Pink Silk Panel: C19th Turkey

A traditional gold gilt embroidered silk panel from Turkey dating from the C19th century Ottoman period.
Hand embroidered using a traditional method of wrapping and couching the gold gilt thread around card or paper to produce raised areas of embroidery. It has been hand worked onto a pretty terracotta silk satin ground with traditional motifs.
This extraordinary panel would have been used to dress a cushion on a low sofa.
In good antique condition for an antique embroidery from this era, it has some water or age marks which we have not tried to remove but which is may be possible to improve upon with specialist cleaning. The embroidery is in excellent condition with some rubs to the gilt surface.

97 x 51cm (36 x 20 inches)
Condition: In good condition for a silk embroidery from this era. Some light marks, one split and an overall patina of age as you would expect in a textile from this era.
